The Milan Mela, an annual month-long fair held at New Indian Field in Baruipur, is a popular event with large crowds attending daily. People from surrounding areas, including Baruipur itself, visit the fair by paying an entry fee to enjoy various attractions, including rides. The swing ride, which was involved in the accident, is one of the key attractions. Following the incident, the fair organizers asserted that all rides were inspected and were in working condition at the time. However, they denied any claims of negligence related to the incident.
The Baruipur police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. They are currently reviewing safety protocols and examining the equipment involved in the malfunction. The authorities are also looking into the possible role of the victims' actions in contributing to the incident. Preliminary reports suggest the swing’s malfunction could have been caused by a mechanical failure. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and no official conclusions have been drawn as of now.
