A police kiosk near Sealdah, Kolkata, was vandalized on Monday after a verbal altercation between two passengers on a bus escalated. The disagreement between the passengers caught the attention of traffic police, who intervened to mediate. One of the passengers involved in the altercation was brought inside the police kiosk by an officer to give his statement regarding the incident. During this time, an acquaintance of the individual who had been involved in the argument arrived at the scene.
The acquaintance, reportedly armed with bamboo sticks and other makeshift weapons, began attacking the police kiosk. According to the police, the assailant, along with several others, caused extensive damage to the kiosk by smashing it with the bamboo and sticks. The officer inside the kiosk was initially caught off guard by the attack, but additional police units arrived quickly to restore order and disperse the attackers.
The police arrested Bishwakarma Sahu, a resident of the area, in connection with the vandalism. Authorities have confirmed that Sahu was one of the individuals responsible for carrying out the attack. Investigations are ongoing, with police questioning the arrested individual and others to determine how the group was informed of the situation and why they targeted the police kiosk. Officials are also looking into the possible motivations behind the attack, including whether it was related to the original argument or if there were other underlying reasons.
