Jammu and Kashmir hit by 5.8 magnitude earthquake, no casualties reported
In Jaipur, Rajasthan, a man was arrested on Monday after he drove his Mahindra Thar SUV onto active railway tracks, reportedly while intoxicated, leading to a major disruption and injuries. The incident took place near a busy railway line, where the driver reportedly accessed the tracks in an attempt to create a video. Witnesses say he was visibly struggling to control the vehicle, which quickly became stuck between the rails.
As the driver attempted to maneuver his SUV off the tracks, a goods train approached, creating a dangerous situation. The loco pilot, spotting the obstruction, initiated an emergency stop, successfully bringing the train to a halt just meters from the vehicle. Authorities confirmed that the quick response from the pilot prevented what could have been a severe accident.
Several police officers and local residents gathered at the scene, assisting in efforts to remove the SUV from the tracks. According to reports, the driver, in a hasty attempt to reverse his vehicle back onto the road, accidentally hit three bystanders who were standing nearby. The injured individuals, fortunately, did not sustain life-threatening injuries, though they required medical attention.
Police pursued the driver following the incident, ultimately apprehending him. The SUV was seized, and the man was taken into custody on charges of reckless endangerment, causing injuries through negligent driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol. Authorities stated that the man admitted to being intoxicated at the time.
