Hockey India has revealed its 18-member squad for the upcoming Bihar Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Rajgir 2024. Set to take place from November 11 to 20 at the state-of-the-art Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar, this tournament promises high stakes as India enters as the defending champions after claiming victory at last year’s edition in Ranchi. The team will face strong contenders, including current Olympic silver medalists China, alongside Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand, in a bid for regional supremacy.

Salima Tete, a formidable midfielder, has been named captain of the team, with Navneet Kaur stepping in as vice-captain. Under their leadership, India aims to bring home the title once again, reflecting their rigorous preparation and deep commitment to victory. According to Salima, "Leading the team in a major tournament is an incredible experience, especially as defending champions. We have a mix of experienced players and young talent, and our focus is on maintaining last year’s passion and determination."

The team’s defense is bolstered by experienced players such as Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, who returns to the squad after completing rehabilitation, alongside emerging talents like Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke and Ishika Chaudhary. In goal, veteran Savita and rising star Bichu Devi Kharibam will guard India’s net, ensuring a strong defense against formidable opponents.

India’s journey in the tournament begins on November 11 with a match against Malaysia. Vice-captain Navneet Kaur expressed optimism, noting the team’s confidence in both their preparation and in the powerful team dynamics cultivated during training. She added, "Playing at home is a huge boost, and we’re ready to face Asia’s best with Salima’s fantastic leadership."

India’s lineup showcases a solid mix of skills in defense, midfield, and offense, with Beauty Dungdung and Sushila adding to the squad’s strength after completing their recovery. The team is prepared and motivated to make this tournament a memorable one, embracing the advantage of playing in front of supportive home crowds.
