Tension has escalated at a Mukundapur hospital after the death of a patient, leading to allegations of vandalism against the hospital and harassment of doctors by the patient’s family. In response to reports of unrest, police from Survey Park station were dispatched to the hospital.
The patient, a young man from Baranagar in North Kolkata, was injured in a bike accident on Ashtami night and admitted to the hospital for treatment. Initially, the family was informed that his condition was stable and that no transfer was needed. However, within days, they received a significant medical bill, which raised concerns about the quality of care provided. Tragically, the young man later died, prompting the family to seek explanations from hospital officials.
On Monday, the family confronted the hospital for answers but allegedly received no satisfactory response. This lack of communication led to chaos at the facility, with claims of harassment against medical staff and vandalism at the reception area. The family denies these allegations, asserting that security personnel and police were present during the incident to maintain order. The Survey Park police are investigating both the family’s complaints and the hospital's response, aiming to clarify the situation surrounding this unfortunate incident.
