Supreme Court’s YouTube channel hacked, Crypto content posted

The Supreme Court of India's official YouTube channel was hacked, leading to a significant security breach that has sent shockwaves through the judiciary and the public alike. Instead of the usual court proceedings, the channel showcased unauthorized content promoting XRP, a cryptocurrency developed by US-based Ripple Labs.

The Supreme Court's YouTube channel is a crucial tool for transparency, playing a vital role in live streaming important cases, especially those involving Constitution Benches and matters of public interest. The viewers searching for these recordings were met with frustration as all previous videos were set to private. Instead, they found a live stream titled "Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION." The sudden shift from judicial content to promotional material not only disrupted access to essential information but also raised alarms about the security protocols in place for such a high-profile channel.

The hack has ignited discussions about the vulnerabilities in the digital infrastructure that supports the judiciary's online presence. In a unanimous decision made during a recent full court meeting led by then Chief Justice UU Lalit, the Supreme Court had adoped live streaming of proceedings as a path toward greater transparency in the judicial process.
