Jr doctors write to CS seeking another meeting over 'unresolved saftey issues'

In a recent letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of West Bengal Manoj Pant, the West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front reiterated their unresolved demands from a previous meeting. The letter highlights that despite assurances, the key issues regarding the development of the healthcare system, safety, security, and the prevailing threat culture remain unaddressed.

The doctors are particularly concerned about the 4th and 5th points of their five-point demand list. The Junior Doctors’ Front had been promised that a special task force, chaired by the Chief Minister, would be established to tackle these issues.

The letter requests an immediate meeting with the Chief Minister and other members of the task force to discuss the formation and function of this group. The doctors expressed their eagerness to resolve these matters and are awaiting a positive response.

This letter comes amid ongoing protests by the Junior Doctors' Front in response to the RG Kar rape and murder case. While their demands for the removal of the Kolkata Police Commissioner and top Health Department officials have been met by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the doctors continue to protest and have not resumed their work.
