Over 16,000 e-challans worth 9.49 crore issued in Bihar through e-detection system at toll plazas

The Bihar Transport Department, in coordination with the state's traffic police, has issued over 16,700 e-challans totaling Rs 9.49 crore within a week. The fines were issued through an advanced e-detection system installed at 13 toll plazas across the state, officials announced.

Between August 7 and 15, a total of 16,755 e-challans were issued, with 9,676 of these targeting vehicles registered in other states. The remaining 7,079 e-challans were issued to vehicles registered within Bihar. The new system automatically detects violations of the Motor Vehicle Act, ensuring swift action against offenders.

Additional Director General (ADG) of Bihar Traffic Police, Sudhanshu Kumar, explained that the system targets vehicles lacking valid insurance, fitness, and pollution certificates. "Vehicle owners will now receive e-challans directly on their mobile phones through this system, making enforcement more efficient," Kumar said.
