BJP announces continuous protest demanding CM's resignation on RG Kar case from August 28

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its campaign against the ruling Trinamool (TMC) in West Bengal, announcing a series of statewide protests from August 28 to September 4. These protests are in response to the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at a state-run hospital, an incident that has sparked outrage across the state.

BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar has called for the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of failing to ensure the safety of women. He stated that a sit-in would be held at Kolkata's Esplanade area starting on August 28, demanding the chief minister's resignation. Additionally, the party's women's wing plans to symbolically "close the doors" of the state women's commission office, criticizing the commission's inaction.

Majumdar outlined the BJP's protest schedule, which includes gheraoing district magistrate offices on August 29, holding protests outside administrative offices in every block on September 2, and organizing a statewide 'chakka jam' to block traffic for an hour on September 4.

The BJP leader also claimed that the ongoing CBI probe into financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has exposed a nexus between the state government and corrupt hospital officials. He accused the chief minister of protecting powerful individuals involved in fraudulent activities worth crores and demanded that a phone conversation between the chief minister and a prominent hospital official be included in the CBI investigation.

In response, TMC state spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumder accused the BJP of attempting to create unrest in the state and disrupt daily life, claiming that the party was trying to divert attention from the CBI's slow progress in tracking down the culprits.
