Biz man hacked to death in Kolkata's Topsia, police suspects old rivalry

A businessman, identified as Arif Khan, was brutally murdered in broad daylight on Friday evening in Anandpur, Kolkata. The attack, which involved a sharp weapon, occurred as Arif was walking in the area.

Arif Khan, a resident of Topsia in East Kolkata, had gone to Panchanangram in the Anandpur area for work. According to police sources, the murder was not committed by someone unknown to him. The attacker has been identified as Abbas, an acquaintance of Arif's.

Local sources reported that Arif and Abbas had a heated argument over old matters. During the confrontation, Abbas suddenly pulled out a chopper and attacked Arif multiple times. Severely injured and bleeding, Arif's cries for help attracted residents who rushed him to Kolkata National Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police investigations revealed that Arif sustained multiple cuts on his body, leading to excessive bleeding and his subsequent death. Arif's family, who arrived at the hospital that night, expressed their shock and stated they were unaware of any enmity he might have had.

Preliminary police investigations suggest the dispute between Arif and Abbas might have been related to business and financial matters. Authorities believe more detailed information will emerge once the accused is arrested and interrogated.
