Amidst the tense atmosphere following the Sandeshkhali violence, Governor CV Anand Bose visited Chopra in North Dinajpur today. Accompanied by state minister Golam Rabbani and North Dinajpur district Trinamool Congress president Kanhaiya Lal Agarwal, the Governor inspected the site where four children tragically lost their lives after being buried in mud. Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Governor Bose announced compensation of one lakh rupees each and urged for a thorough investigation into the incident, demanding a complete report from the Border Security Force (BSF).
The incident, which occurred on February 12 in Chetnagachh village of Chopra block, came to light following allegations by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who held the BSF responsible for the accident. Following appeals and demands for investigation from TMC leaders, the Governor's visit to Chopra aims to address the concerns of the affected families and ensure accountability. Governor Bose affirmed his commitment to submitting a detailed report to the Home Ministry regarding the tragic incident, reassuring the families that they are not alone in their struggle for justice.
