Protests have erupted across WB following the detention of TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee and other party members in Delhi. Trinamool workers gathered at various locations in the state, staging demonstrations and roadblocks to express their discontent. Rallies have started since last night in the city, protesters have conducted rallies in Dharamtalla and even Howrah Bridge was blocked.
The protests further included road blockades and fires set along National Highway No. 60 in Medinipur, roadblocks in Rampurhat mode of Birbhum, and demonstrations in Shivpur and Belur of Howrah. Domjur also witnessed Trinamool workers blocking roads, chanting slogans, and burning effigies of Prime Minister Modi.
These protests come after a two-day demonstration in Delhi led by Trinamool Congress, demanding the release of dues. Their attempt to meet with Union Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh was unsuccessful, leading to further protests and subsequent detentions.
