West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has made startling allegations, asserting that five vice-chancellors who resigned from their positions had received threats. In a video message on Thursday, Governor Bose emphasized his commitment to eliminating corruption and violence within state universities.
These claims come amidst a heated feud between the state government and the Raj Bhavan regarding the appointment of interim vice-chancellors for certain state universities by the governor. Bose, invoking the legacies of Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Swami Vivekananda, pledged to uphold a "corruption-free academia" and stated that these appointments were made after the apex court ruled against previous state government appointments due to allegations of corruption, sexual harassment, and political interference.
Further today taking a dig at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Governor CV Anand Bose said that "she can come inside Raj Bhavan to protest against anything she deems unfair. Whatever is being done is being done to save education."
