Shuvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the Vidhansabha, has called on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to reconsider the timing of the "Netra Daan" program, the inauguration ritual of Maa Durga during the Pitra Paksha period. Adhikari urged the Chief Minister to move the event to the Devi Paksha, a more auspicious period, to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the people of Bengal.
Speaking on the matter, Adhikari emphasized that the Pitra Paksha, a period dedicated to honoring ancestors, is considered sacred and holds significant spiritual importance. Shifting the "Netra Daan" program to the Devi Paksha, which marks the ascent of the goddess, would align the ceremony with a period believed to bring prosperity and blessings to the state.
Adhikari's call comes as a suggestion to respect the sentiments and spiritual beliefs of the people of Bengal, ensuring that the Durga Puja inauguration is performed at a time that holds positive connotations for the overall welfare of the community.
