In a significant development, the ruling party of West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC), is reportedly preparing to introduce a resolution against the state's Governor, Dr. CV Anand Bose. This move is anticipated to take place during the monsoon session of the Vidhansabha, scheduled to reconvene on August 22.
The decision to bring forth the resolution comes after a few days of adjournment in the assembly proceedings. The focus of the resolution centers around the observance of West Bengal Day at the Raj Bhavan by Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose, an unprecedented event in the state's history according to TMC. This observation, according to TMC sources, has prompted the party to initiate a motion against the Governor.
Reportedly, the resolution was initially drafted and signed by Tapas Rai, a prominent Trinamool Congress MLA, in the assembly. Two additional proposers are expected to join the resolution.
Governor Dr. CV Anand Bose holds a crucial position as the head of the state government under the existing rules. This is underscored by the fact that during the budget address, the governor commences the speech by stating "my government." The proposal against the governor by the state government thus carries significant political and procedural implications.
