Governor CV Anand Bose of West Bengal abruptly left his visit to North Bengal in response to the recent outbreak of violence in Rishra. On Tuesday morning, he returned to Kolkata by air from Bagdogra and headed straight to Rishra, where he inspected the situation near Gate number four. Hooghly's police commissioner briefed him on the situation and the Governor made it clear that political violence in Bengal would not be tolerated.
In a statement, Governor Bose said, "Together we will protect the peace. Peace will be established and the criminals will be sent behind bars." He also contacted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to inquire about the matter and expressed his disapproval of the violence in Hooghly.
The Governor further emphasized that those who break the law will face the consequences and that "goons and miscreants will be crushed." He visited SSKM Hospital and met with the injured, assuring them of all possible help. In particular, he promised to assist the family members of Vijay Mali, who was injured in Rishra.
The Governor's swift response to the situation in Risda reflects his commitment to maintaining law and order in West Bengal. It remains to be seen how the government will address the ongoing issue of political violence in the state.
