A couple attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substances in the New Mandi Kotwali area of Muzaffarnagar district on Wednesday, police said.
While the man identified as Amardeep Jaiswal (35) was declared brought dead on arrival at the district hospital, the woman Palavvi (25) was referred to Muzaffarnagar Medical College for treatment in critical condition. Police said the duo was found unconscious in a car under the jurisdiction of the Nai Mandi police station.
During the investigation, the police found that Jaiswaland Palavvi - both residents of Dehradun - had absconded two days before the incident and the family members of the girl filed a case at the Dalanwala police station in Dehradun. City SP Satyanarayan Parjapat said, "Further investigation is underway."
