Star Indian batter Virat Kohli roared back into form by scoring his 30th Test century on Day 3 of the opening Test against Australia in Perth. Kohli's magnificent innings of 100 not out off 143 balls powered India to a commanding declaration at 487/6, setting Australia an imposing target of 534 runs.
This century holds special significance for Kohli, as it is his first Test hundred in 16 months. His last century in this format came in 2023, marking a long-awaited moment for Indian cricket fans.
Kohli’s knock not only solidified India’s grip on the match but also etched his name further in cricket history. With this milestone, Kohli surpassed Australia legend Sir Donald Bradman, who had 29 Test centuries to his name. Kohli now ranks fourth among Indian players with the most Test centuries, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar (49), Rahul Dravid (36), and Sunil Gavaskar (34).
The innings highlighted Kohli’s mastery over Australian conditions, combining technical finesse with aggressive intent. He forged important partnerships, including a quick 77-run stand with Nitesh Reddy, to bat Australia out of the game.
Tendulkar continues to top the global chart with an unmatched 49 Test centuries, a record that has remained untouched since his retirement in 2013. With Kohli still going strong at 35, many believe he has the potential to challenge this feat in the years to come.
