Hemant Soren may take oath as Jharkhand CM alone, Cabinet to be sworn in later
A joint team of Kolkata Police’s Special Task Force (STF), Bihar STF, and local police from Tarapur PS raided an illegal firearms manufacturing unit in Munger, Bihar, last night. Acting on intelligence gathered by the Kolkata Police STF, officers targeted the residence of MD Monazir Hussain in Milky Khanpur, Gazipur.
The search revealed a secret underground chamber within the house, specially designed to house an improvised arms manufacturing facility.
Upon uncovering the hidden chamber, the joint forces found a sophisticated setup used to manufacture illegal firearms. Seized items included six pistol bodies, six pistol butts, and an array of machinery, such as a lathe, milling, drilling, and grinding machines. Additionally, a large quantity of tools and raw materials used in the making of firearms were confiscated.
This operation marks the 14th arms unit busted in Bihar and Jharkhand over the last three years, highlighting an ongoing challenge with illegal arms production in the region.
The investigation identified MD Monazir Hussain and his brother-in-law, MD Nasim, as the primary operators of the illicit factory, with assistance from an associate, Irshad Mallick. The firearms factory was cleverly disguised as a food plate manufacturing unit to avoid suspicion. During the raid, both Monazir and Nasim were apprehended on-site, while law enforcement agencies continue to search for any additional associates or suppliers linked to the factory.
