On Children’s Day 2024, Bollywood star Jackie Shroff shared a heartfelt message emphasizing the right of every child to education, love, and the freedom to dream. Taking to Instagram, Shroff posted a moving reel showcasing children, accompanied by the classic song Nanhe Munne Bachche Teri Mutthi Mein from the 1954 film Boot Polish. The melody, sung by Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi, added depth to Shroff’s message, reminding audiences of the innocence and potential that lies within every child.
In his caption, Shroff wrote, “Every Child Has...the right to education, right to dream, right to be loved and cared for, gifts that should be recognised and valued for, the right to be respected, the need for unconditional love, the right to achieve their potential… Happy Children’s Day.” Shroff’s post quickly resonated with fans and followers who echoed his call for equal opportunities for all children.
Children’s Day is celebrated in India on November 14, marking the birth anniversary of the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Known for his deep affection for children, Nehru once said that they are the future of the nation, and his legacy continues through this annual celebration aimed at promoting the welfare and rights of children across the country.
Referencing Boot Polish in his post, Shroff highlighted a movie that reflects a child’s struggle and resilience. Directed by Prakash Arora and produced by Raj Kapoor, the 1954 classic tells the story of two orphaned siblings who are forced to beg by their aunt but choose instead to polish shoes for a living. The film remains a reminder of the importance of self-respect and hard work, values central to Shroff’s Children’s Day message.
Shroff, known for his versatile roles, is currently in the spotlight for his recent release, Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. In the movie, he takes on the role of a powerful antagonist, joining an ensemble cast that includes Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Arjun Kapoor. Singham Again, which reimagines themes from the Ramayana, was shot across Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kashmir, and Sri Lanka, and saw a Diwali release alongside Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
Following Singham Again, Shroff will be seen in Baby John, an action-thriller directed by Kalees. The film, a remake of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil hit Theri, features Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi, and is produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, and A for Apple Productions. Shroff’s upcoming projects and his impactful Children’s Day message reflect his enduring commitment to entertainment and social awareness, as he continues to inspire fans across generations.
