Darjeeling zoo first in India to house both Siberian and White tigers
An Indigo flight (6E2014) en route from Delhi to Kolkata made an emergency landing at Kolkata Airport after a female passenger fell unconscious mid-flight. The flight was approaching Kolkata’s airspace when passenger Kalyani Chakraborty suddenly lost consciousness. The flight crew assessed the situation and promptly contacted Kolkata’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) to request emergency landing clearance.
The ATC granted priority clearance, and the flight was directed to land on runway 51 at Kolkata Airport. The aircraft, which was carrying 227 passengers and 7 crew members, landed safely. Airport authorities had already been alerted to the medical emergency, and a medical team was on standby at the airport to assist as soon as the plane landed.
Upon landing, medical personnel immediately began treating Chakraborty. However, her condition did not improve significantly, and she was subsequently transferred to a private hospital near VIP Road for further medical attention. Hospital sources reported that the passenger had been experiencing respiratory issues and vertigo, which contributed to her sudden collapse. Her condition has since stabilized, and she remains under observation.
