A tragic accident struck Mohanpura village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district on Tuesday when a large mound of soil collapsed on a group of women collecting mud to plaster their homes. The sudden collapse buried several women, leading to the deaths of four and injuring others. Nine women were eventually pulled from the debris, with four being declared dead upon arrival at the district hospital. Authorities have ensured that all injured individuals receive immediate medical attention.
District Magistrate Medha Roopam stated that the rescue operation proceeded smoothly, with the area thoroughly searched by JCB machinery to confirm no one else remained trapped. The district administration is closely working with local authorities to ascertain the sequence of events and any safety lapses that contributed to the tragic collapse. Families of the deceased have expressed their grief, urging that responsible parties be held accountable to prevent such incidents in the future.
