Three people were killed in a tragic accident on National Highway 12 in Shantipur, West Bengal, on Tuesday morning. The crash occurred in the Babla Panchayat area when a small four-wheeler, traveling from Kolkata to Krishnanagar, collided with the rear of a truck. The dense fog in the area significantly reduced visibility, which is believed to have contributed to the crash.
The impact caused severe damage to the front of the smaller vehicle, trapping the three occupants inside. Despite rescue efforts, all three victims, who sustained fatal head and facial injuries, were declared dead at the scene. Their bodies were extricated and sent to a local hospital for post-mortem.
Shantipur police seized both vehicles involved in the accident. The truck, traveling on the same route, did not sustain significant damage. The accident is being investigated to determine the exact cause, with authorities focusing on the role of the poor visibility caused by the fog.
