Fans rejoice as Coldplay announces fourth show in Ahmedabad after ticket frenzy

Coldplay fans in India have reason to celebrate as the British rock band has added a fourth concert to their 2025 “Music of the Spheres World Tour.” Due to unprecedented fan demand, Coldplay and BookMyShow announced an additional show at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on January 25, 2025, making it the band’s largest concert audience yet with an expected turnout of 100,000 fans.

The announcement follows the quick sell-out of tickets for the band’s initial two concerts in Mumbai at the DY Patil Sports Stadium, which were scheduled for January 18 and 19, 2025. Due to high demand, a third show was added on January 21. However, reports of black-market ticket resales led to an Enforcement Directorate investigation, as tickets for Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh's concerts quickly landed on unauthorized sites at inflated prices.

Coldplay took to their social media platform X to announce the new show, inviting fans to join them at what will be their biggest concert ever. Tickets for this fourth show will be available on BookMyShow starting November 16 at noon. “The only way to better serve the record-breaking demand...has been to secure the country’s largest venue,” stated Anil Makhija, COO of Live Entertainment at BookMyShow.

To address concerns over ticket resales, BookMyShow has introduced a virtual queue with an Automated Queue Randomisation System, ensuring fans have a fair chance to purchase tickets when they go on sale.

The concert marks a milestone in Coldplay’s two-decade touring career, with Jared Braverman from Live Nation Entertainment commenting, “Over 20 years into their touring career, Coldplay continues to push boundaries in both scale and reach.”

The Gujarat Cricket Association, which oversees the Narendra Modi Stadium, echoed the excitement. President Dhanraj Nathwani emphasized the significance of this event in positioning Ahmedabad on the global entertainment map, crediting the state’s modern infrastructure for attracting world-class events.
