Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
An explosion occurred at a bar owned by popular singer and rapper Badshah in Chandigarh's upscale Sector 26 in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident took place between 2:30 and 2:45 am when two unidentified suspects, riding a motorcycle, allegedly hurled a low-intensity explosive at the private club.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the blast shattered several window panes, causing panic in the area. Authorities suspect the use of a crude homemade explosive device, which may have been thrown as part of an extortion attempt.
Chandigarh Police were alerted immediately after the explosion. Teams from the bomb detection squad and the Chandigarh Forensic Science Laboratory arrived on the scene to gather evidence and ascertain the nature of the explosive device.
A senior police officer stated, "Preliminary investigations indicate that the device was a homemade bomb. We are working to identify the suspects and their motives. Extortion cannot be ruled out."
Residents expressed concern about the incident in one of the city’s busiest entertainment hubs. As the investigation progresses, security has been heightened in the area.
The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and have appealed to the public for information about any suspicious activities around the time of the blast. Singer and rapper Badshah has yet to release a statement about the incident.
