A 13-year-old girl in Kalyani has accused a local ambulance driver of attempting to rape her on Friday night. The incident reportedly took place near her home, where the accused allegedly made advances towards the minor. Despite being threatened, the girl disclosed the assault to her family and filed a complaint with the Kalyani police later that evening.
According to the victim's family, the ambulance driver attempted to silence the girl by offering her money and threatening to kill her if she revealed the attack. After returning home, the victim shared the details of the assault with her family. The family immediately took action, and a formal police complaint was lodged at Kalyani police station.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police swiftly arrested the accused, who is a local ambulance driver. He was taken to the Kalyani subdivision court for a hearing. The arrest has prompted strong reactions from the local community, with many residents, including family members, demanding a strict penalty for the accused. Several neighbors have joined in condemning the act and supporting the victim’s family.
The incident has also led to political discussions, with some leaders expressing concerns over the state’s law and order situation. The BJP has raised questions regarding the police’s role in addressing such crimes and handling public safety, citing similar cases in the region. The accused, however, denies the charges, claiming that no such incident took place.
