The Dhanbad district administration has ordered the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers between 10 pm and 6 am, with immediate effect from Thursday evening until further orders.
In this regard, Dhanbad Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Prem Kumar Tiwari issued an order on Thursday evening that the directive will be effective in the entire Dhanbad sub-divisional area from 10 pm to 6 am.
The district administration has also directed the heads of all Police Stations, Police Outposts (OPs), all Circle Officers (COs) and all Block Development Officers (BDOs) to ensure implementation of the directives in their respective areas and take legal action against violators of the order.
“The Supreme Court, Delhi, and Jharkhand High Courts have issued directions for controlling noise pollution from time to time. This order has also been issued under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Regulations, 2000. A prohibited level of sound pollution is already announced both day and night,” the SDM said.
In his announcement, Prem Kumar Tiwari also pointed out that industrial activities, firecrackers, sound generating machines, generators, loudspeakers, public address systems, music systems and vehicle horns have bad impact on people's health. So it needs full control. “With this in mind, the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers has been banned,” he said.
