The groom collapsed on stage after he felt uncomfortable with the high decibel DJ music blaring at his Varmala ceremony in Bihar's Sitamarhi district. The groom Surendra Kumar was taken to a local hospital but died while being taken to Sitamarhi for treatment.
The incident took place on Wednesday, when both Surendra and his bride were present at the stage set up for their wedding. The couple exchanged garlands and performed other rituals. Surendra reportedly agonized and repeatedly complained about the loud sound of the DJ playing at his wedding procession, but to no avail.
Just moments after the varmala ceremony, Surendra collapsed on stage and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was then referred to Sitamarhi but breathed his last on the way.
After the incident, the administration raised questions about the use of DJs despite the strict ban. Social worker Dr Rajeev Kumar Mishra also demanded that the administration strictly ban DJs.
