Accident victim forcibly shifted to pvt hospital, dies in Lucknow due to inadequate treatment

An alleged case of patient stalking came to light at Thakurganj police station, where a road accident victim was forcibly admitted to a private hospital and later allegedly died due to inadequate treatment.

The victim, identified as Dinesh Bajpai (70) of Narayan Garden Colony in Dubagga, was hit by a motorcyclist who was driving his bike at high speed in front of the temple. Dinesh, who was a priest in the same temple, was hit by a bike while coming out of the temple.

His son Anil immediately reached the scene and admitted Dinesh at a hospital near his house. Meanwhile, an unknown man approached him and advised him to admit Dinesh to his hospital at Balaganj crossing.

"He consoled me and insisted that I take my father to his hospital, and later did it himself forcibly. He assured me that the doctors at his hospital would bandage the wounds and take an X-ray. Around 3.30 pm, a member came out of the operating theater and said that my father had died. They beat me when I asked why they forcibly admitted him to the hospital when they could not provide proper treatment," the victim said.

ADCP, West Zone, CN Sinha, said that an FIR has been lodged alleging cause of death by negligence and investigation is on.
