The Jharkhand women's hockey team won the bronze medal by defeating arch-rivals Haryana 2-1 by goals in the 13th India Senior Women's Hockey Championship on Sunday.
Roshni Dungdung scored a 1-1 field goal in the 25th minute and Reshma Soreng scored a 1-1 field goal in the 59th minute for the Jharkhand team. While in the last minute of the match, Devika Sen scored a field goal for Haryana to reduce the lead to 2-1.
Albela Rani Toppo won the player of the match award. She won the Player of the Match award in three of the five matches played. Hockey India General Secretary with President Hockey Jharkhand Bhola Nath Singh, Team India selectors Asunta Lakra, Vijay Shankar Singh, Rajneesh Kumar, Arvind Singh, Randhir Kumar were present and cheering the players in Sunday's match at Kakinada Stadium.
Notably, the 13th edition of the Indian Senior Women's Hockey National Championship began on February 15 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, with players from 26 teams from various states and union territories vying for the top honours.
