The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has decided to develop the Veer Savarkar Garden, an amusement park and museum in Bhaguru, Nashik, officials said.
The government has announced this project as today commemorates the death anniversary of Vinayaka Damodar Savarkar. Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha will attend a function in Nashik today to mark the occasion.
"On February 26, on the occasion of Veer Savarkar's death anniversary, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has proposed to develop a Veer Savarkar Garden, Amusement Park and Museum from its own funds," the Maharashtra government said in an order.
"In this regard, the City Council should pay the amount of work currently completed to the concerned contractor and classify the said work under the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. Thereafter, the Mahamandal should complete the said work through a contractor as per administrative approval," the order added.
"Furthermore, if any other work is to be done, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation should conduct a separate tender from its own funds. The ownership of the said theme park or museum will remain with the city council, but the corporation should build the said project and maintain it regularly from its own funds,” the order continued.
