Student threw acid on classmate in Birbhum to stop her from giving board exams

A tragic incident occurred in Birbhum district where a student Arif Shah threw acid on his classmate, Lakshmi, in an attempt to prevent her from appearing in an examination. However, he missed his target, and the acid spilled on Lakshmi's hand, causing severe burns. Furthermore, he threatened her, stating that she would not be allowed to pass in Madhyamik.

The incident took place in Tejhati, Birbhum district, and Lakshmi's family members filed an FIR at the Nalhati police station. She was admitted to Rampurhat Government Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors provided her with appropriate care. The district administration allowed her to take the exam with the assistance of a writer. The accused failed to achieve his objective.

So far, the police have not arrested anyone, but there are claims that the perpetrator's family has powerful links. The locals have dubbed the incident a case of "Love Jihad," although this is yet to be confirmed. The accused's family has refused to comment on the matter.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad's spokesperson, Sauris Mukherjee, believes that individuals with a Jihadi mindset are determined to use violent means to ensnare girls from the Hindu community by any means possible. He has urged the police to take strict action against the perpetrator.
