SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Truck driver Roop Lal Mahto (28) was burnt to death in the vehicle parked on the Phulbasiya coal siding under Baariyatu police station limits in Latehar district around 10 pm on Wednesday. The incident was revealed on Thursday morning.
The deceased driver was a resident of Nawa Khap village under Keredari police station limits in Hazaribagh.
Latehar Superintendent of Police (SP) Anjani Anjan said, "The 14-wheeler truck was parked at the Phulbasiya coal siding since February 20 as it broke down. Its transmission was out of order."
The truck was transporting coal between Amrapali mine, also called Magadh mine, and Phulbasiya coal siding. Sources said the driver allegedly cooked eggs for dinner on Wednesday night near the vehicle, as eggshells were found at the scene. The deceased driver had an entanglement with unidentified persons on the Phulbasiya coal siding a few days ago, they added.
