Youth dies after alleged beating at South Garia drug rehab, family vandalizes centre in protest
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday hit out at the Congress for protesting police action against its spokesperson Pawan Kher, saying opposition party leaders should not live under the "false notion" that they are above the law and criticized them for their agitation on tarmac of Delhi airport.
"Whatever happens is done in accordance with the law. Congress leaders should not live under this misconception that they are above the law,” BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia told reporters. He said the Congress was playing the "victim card" after it used derogatory words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family members.
The BJP leader said the Congress leaders had "broken the law" when they started protests at the Delhi airport and endangered the lives of fellow passengers. People were uncomfortable with the Congress protests, he said. "Modi enjoys the blessings of more than 140 million people in the country and abusing them is like digging a hole into which the Congress will fall," Bhatia said. People will teach Congress a lesson, he said.
Congress leader Khera was arrested by the Assam Police at the airport on Thursday after he was kicked out of a Delhi-Raipur flight in connection with his alleged derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister. Khera recently called him "Narendra Gautamdas Modi", an apparent jab at the prime minister over a row involving business tycoon Gautam Adani. His full name is Narendra Damodardas Modi, with the middle name meaning his father's name, a practice common in various parts of the country.
The BJP targeted Khera for using a business name as Modi's middle name, accusing him of insulting the prime minister.
