Giridih police on Wednesday arrested two persons accused of shooting Giridih Central Jail guard Shashi Bhushan Yadav on Tuesday night. He suffered four gunshot wounds and is said to be in critical condition.
Those arrested are Dhananjay Kumar, a resident of Turukdiha under Mufassil police station in Giridih district, and Deepak Kumar of Deoghar district. One of the accused is still on the run. "Raids are underway to nab him," Giridih SP Amit Kumar Renu said.
The incident took place around 8.30 pm on Tuesday near a petrol pump on the Giridih-Tundi road, a police statement said. The miscreants allegedly snatched Yadav's revolver and fired at him.
An FIR has been lodged at the Giridih Mufassil police station against three unidentified persons. The guard's revolver and the bicycle used to commit the crime were seized from the accused. Yadav was rushed to Sadar Hospital, from where he was referred to Patliputra Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad. He was then sent to Durgapur for better treatment.
It may be mentioned that the jailer of Giridih was attacked by criminals in the same manner a few months back.
