AAP announces 1000 per month to women if voted back to power
On January 21, ISF MLA Naushad Siddiqui and 88 of his supporters were arrested by Kolkata Police for blocking a road and creating a disturbance, which led to stone pelting between police and Naushad's supporters during a rally on the foundation day of ISF.
However, during the bail petition hearing in the Calcutta High Court, the judge expressed surprise over the arrest of such a large number of people just for blocking the road. Naushad has been in jail custody since then, and his bail petition was heard on Wednesday.
Naushad's lawyer, senior advocate Vikas Ranjan Bhattacharya, argued that the arrests were made solely based on the one program, and Naushad has been in jail for more than 32 days. The division bench of Justices Jaimalya Bagchi and Ajay Kumar Gupta heard the arguments and will deliver a verdict soon.
While Justice Bagchi criticized Naushad for not showing restraint as a leader, the High Court will determine whether the charges against Naushad and his supporters justify their continued detention.
