AAP announces 1000 per month to women if voted back to power
As many as 25 people have been arrested so far after a group of locals attacked Bihar police personnel following the death of a youth under suspicious circumstances in Sitamarhi district, police confirmed on Tuesday.
A viral video shows angry locals pelting stones at policemen and attacking their vehicles with sticks at Bhitta village under Pupri police station in Sitamarhi.
According to reports, Mukesh Sahni was found dead in a suspicious condition in Bhitta village on February 18, after which locals got angry over the nature of the youth's death and blocked the road.
When the policemen reached the spot to negotiate with the locals and clear the road, they attacked the policemen with stones and sticks. Speaking to the media, a police officer said, "We got information that at the Pupri police station, some villagers blocked the road. When we tried to convince the people, they threw stones at us."
"An FIR was registered against 54 people and the police arrested 25 people including 10 women and sent them to jail," the police added.
Further investigation is underway in the matter.
