Amid the ongoing preparations for the Panchayat elections in West Bengal, the recovery of a bag full of bombs by the police of Kashipur police station in Bhangarh, South 24 Parganas district on Tuesday night has caused widespread panic in the area. This incident is just one of several reports of bombs and guns being recovered by the police during their search operations in various locations in the district.
The police received a tip-off late Tuesday night that a group of miscreants was hoarding bombs in Baniyara village. Acting swiftly, the police personnel raided Baniyara Khalpada, causing the criminals to flee.
Subsequently, the police recovered a bag full of bombs from the location. An investigation has been initiated by the Kashipur police station to ascertain who was collecting the bombs and the reason behind them.
These bomb hoardings raise serious questions about the security situation in the run-up to the Panchayat polls in West Bengal. The police have been increasing their vigilance and conducting search operations to prevent any untoward incidents during the elections.
