Markets were allowed to open on Monday after four days of ban in Panki town of Jharkhand's Palamu district, which was hit by a clash between two groups last week, police said.
Markets have been closed in the Panki area since February 15 following a clash over the construction of a decorative gate on the occasion of Shivratri.
"After continuous improvement of the situation and taking into account the needs of the public, a permit was issued to open the market.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Peace Committee on Sunday. However, deployment of police force there will continue,” Palam Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha said.
