On Monday morning, a passenger bus carrying around 60 passengers was involved in a road accident in the Chandpur area under the Daspur police station of West Medinipur district. According to reports, a cargo dumper collided with the bus from the front, causing it to overturn.
The incident occurred between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. As a result of the accident, 15 passengers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical attention. Local residents immediately rushed to the scene to provide assistance, and the police from Daspur police station arrived shortly after.
However, the driver of the dumper reportedly fled the scene. The bus driver, Gopal Samant, stated that he was operating the vehicle when the dumper, which was exiting a petrol pump, collided with the bus. He sustained injuries to his hands.
\Meanwhile, a passenger named Sharmishtha, who was injured in the accident, claimed that the bus was traveling at a high speed and attributed the accident to reckless driving.
