A bomb was hurled and shots were fired at a Trinamool leader in the Bhatpara area of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Fortunately, he narrowly escaped death but received a bullet wound. This incident occurred on Sunday morning, causing panic to spread in the Palghat Road area of the Jagaddal police station.
The critically injured Trinamool ward president, identified as Ashok Kumar Shaw, is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. The police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and are searching for the attacker.
Ashok Kumar Shaw, the victim, is the Trinamool President of Ward No. 12 of Bhatpara. He was on his way to the market near his house in the morning when the miscreants attacked him. The attackers fired six rounds and also threw a bomb. According to reports, a bullet hit the back of Ashok Shaw.
Despite being shot, he managed to escape and was taken to Bhatpara Government General Hospital for treatment. The Jagaddal police recovered a bomb from the scene. Shaw informed reporters that he had received prior information from sources that he might be attacked. He believes that some criminals are attempting to assassinate him to establish criminal violence in the area, and he has been struggling with a sense of insecurity since the incident.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter. This incident occurred within 30 meters of the Jagaddal police station, where the assailants attempted to kill the Trinamool ward president.
