Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is all set to gherao Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik’s residence in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar in protest against the ‘wrongful execution’ of a 24-year-old man by the Border Security Force (BSF) in December last year.
The development comes days after TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee had slammed the central government and the BJP over the death of 24-year-old Prem Kumar Barman, who was gunned down by a Border Security Force (BSF) constable in the Dinhata block near the India-Bangladesh border in December 2022.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at Pramanik’s residence in Bhataguru, Cooch Behar and central forces have been brought in. The deceased, Prem Kumar Barman, was shot dead by the BSF for alleged involvement in cross-border cattle smuggling.
Speaking at the public rally in Mathabanga Coochbehar, the TMC leader asked if the deceased was a cow smuggler, then how come no cow was found in his possession, adding he would bring the post-mortem report of Prem Kumar Burman.
