Kolkata metro to be extended till Hooghly's Chuchura? Here's what Railway minister says
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's on Saturday visited the famous temple of Bhootnath in Kolkata. He worshiped lord Shiv on the occasion of Mahashivratri. After coming out of the temple, Pradhan talked to the media persons present there and launched a scathing attack on the state government.
Pradhan highlighted the issue of corruption in education, specifically in the recruitment of teachers and the mid-day meal scheme. He said, "The biggest crime of the state government is that they have done all kinds of corruption by focusing on education in the holy land of Saraswati. Corruption in the recruitment of teachers, corruption in mid-day meals, etc. The people of Bengal will not forgive".
In recent months, Bengal has been rocked by ongoing protests against a teachers' recruitment scam that has affected thousands of young people seeking jobs in the education sector. The scandal involves allegations of corruption and malpractice in the recruitment of teachers, with the main accused being former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee himself along with others.
The protests have been marked by a groundswell of public anger and frustration, as young job seekers have taken to the streets to demand accountability and justice for the victims of the scam. The movement has been largely led by students and youth activists, who have used social media platforms to mobilize support and organize mass demonstrations across the state.
The protests have also drawn in other sections of society, including opposition parties, civil society groups, and concerned citizens who are outraged by the brazen corruption and nepotism that has plagued the recruitment process. Despite the government's attempts to downplay the issue and suppress dissent, the protests show no sign of abating, and it remains to be seen how the situation will evolve in the coming weeks and months.
