Dharmendra shares first look as Sheikh Salim Chisti from 'Taj: Royal Blood'; looks unrecognisable!

After having an illustrious career graph in Indian cinema, Dharmendra is gearing up for his digital debut with Taj's upcoming web series divided by Blood. The series, which will premiere on ZEE5, was announced on February 14 by the streaming giant.

After the star cast of the series was revealed, including Naseeruddin Shah, Aditi Rao Hydari, Shubham Kumar Mehra, Aashim Gulati and others, Dharmendra surprised fans with his first look from the next project.

FIRST LOOK OF DHARMENDRA AS SHAIKH SALIM CHISTI

Dharmendra will be seen making his acting comeback with Karan Johar directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani opposite Shabani Azmi and Jaya Bachchan. On February 15, the veteran actor took to Twitter and shared his first look of Shaikh Salim Chisti from the upcoming Taj serial Divided by Blood.

The legendary actor looks completely unrecognizable in the pictures, wearing a long robe, turban and white beard. The Sholay actor shared his look on Twitter and wrote, “Friends, I am playing Shaikh Salim Chisti, a Sufi saint in Taaj. A small but important role……needs your best wishes (sic).” He shared another photo of him sitting.

The story, featuring Dharmendra as Sheikh Salim Christi, summarizes the reign of King Akbar (Shah) as he struggles to find a worthy successor. It dramatizes the rise and fall of the generations that follow, shows the beauty and brutality of this great dynasty, their passion for art, poetry and architecture, but at the same time their remarkably cold-blooded decisions with regard to their own family, in the pursuit of power, according to the official conspiracy.

Produced by Contiloe Digital, the series is described as a revelatory tale of the inner workings and ensuing drama that unfolded in the sacred chambers of the Mughal Empire. William Borthwick is the showrunner of Taj with Simon Fantauzz as writer and Ronald Scalpell as director. It also stars actors Subodh Bhave, Aayam Mehta, Deepraj Rana, Shivani Tanksale, Padma Damodharan, Pankaj Saraswat, Digambar Prasad and Zachary Coffin. Taj - Divided by Blood will be streaming soon on ZEE5.
