Britain's Queen Consort Camilla tests positive for Covid-19

Britain's Queen Consort, Camilla, has tested positive for COVID-19 after suffering from cold symptoms, Buckingham Palace said, the second time she has caught the virus. The 75-year-old wife of King Charles III. was said to have been suffering from a "seasonal" illness, but a positive test for COVID-19 has meant that all her engagements for the week have now been cancelled.

“After suffering the symptoms of a cold, Her Majesty the Queen Consort has tested positive for the virus," the Buckingham Palace statement said on Monday. "With regret, she has therefore cancelled all her public engagements for this week and sends her sincere apologies to those who had been due to attend them,” the statement added.

The Queen was due to undertake several engagements in the West Midlands region of England, including the centenary celebrations of Elmhurst Ballet School in Edgbaston, Birmingham. She was also due to visit Southwater One Library in Telford to thank staff and representatives of outreach and voluntary groups for their contribution to the community.

Camilla tested positive for COVID last February. Camilla tested positive four days after her husband, then known as Prince Charles, went into self-isolation following his own positive diagnosis for the coronavirus. Charles has also tested positive for the virus several times over the past few years with mild symptoms.
