The bear was found dead in the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR), located in West Champaran district of Bihar. The development comes days after a leopard and a tiger were found dead near the same area.
According to officials, the bear carcass was found in ward number T20 near Laxmipur Rampurwa in Ganauli Forest range of VTR on Monday evening.
"Yes. The bear died yesterday (Monday) evening in the forest. An autopsy was conducted today (Tuesday)," said Dr Neshamani K, wildlife conservator and field director, VTR.
On February 9, forest officials found the carcass of a tiger near Rampurwa village. On the same day, a dead leopard was also found near the Dhanhiya Reta area near VTR.
