SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Two Jharkhand policemen deployed as bodyguards of a local businessman were killed in an overnight gunfight in Deoghar, police said on Sunday.
The police personnel were identified as Ravi Kumar Mishra and Santosh. The duo was deployed as the bodyguards of fish merchant Sudhakar Jha. Alleged rivals of Jha attacked his residence on Shyamganj Road under Deoghar City Police Station around 12.30 pm, the source said.
Confirming the development, Dumka District Deputy Inspector General Sudhershan Mandal said, “We are investigating the matter. The initial probe revealed that miscreants had opened fire, which led to the death of our jawans.”
Both the policemen are residents of Sahebganj district and were recently deployed as bodyguards with the businessman. People familiar with the development said the police had arrested two people involved in the attack.
