A shocking incident unfolded in a village under Siliguri area, where a man allegedly set his own house on fire following an argument with his wife. The accused, Noor Islam, fled the scene after the act, leaving behind a trail of devastation and fear.
According to local sources, Noor Islam returned home late at night, had dinner, and soon began arguing with his wife over an undisclosed matter. The heated argument escalated, and in a fit of rage, he set the house ablaze before fleeing. His wife, sensing danger, immediately left for her father’s house with their young son.
The fire rapidly engulfed the property, creating panic in the neighborhood. Local residents and the police from Phansidewa police station rushed to the scene in an effort to contain the blaze. A fire engine was called to the spot, and the fire was eventually brought under control.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Neighbors expressed their concern about Noor Islam's volatile behavior and the impact of such incidents on the family and the area’s safety.
The police have launched search operation to locate Noor Islam, who remains absconding. Authorities are also investigating the circumstances leading to the incident to ascertain any deeper issues or repeated domestic violence.
