As internal instability in Bangladesh escalates, border infiltration threats have intensified, with a significant rise in the use of counterfeit documents, particularly forged birth certificates, to obtain fake passports. Intelligence sources report that these fake documents are increasingly being used by infiltrators to cross international borders illegally, creating a serious security risk.
The online process for issuing birth certificates in Bangladesh has been targeted by cyber criminals exploiting system vulnerabilities. These criminals are bypassing security measures to generate fraudulent birth certificates, which are then used to apply for counterfeit passports. The ease with which fake birth certificates are being created is raising concerns about the potential for these documents to facilitate illegal migration and infiltration.
In addition to forged birth certificates, reports indicate the increasing use of counterfeit voter IDs, Aadhaar cards, and ration cards, which are also being produced through fraudulent means. These fake documents use fabricated personal details, false addresses, and altered information to appear legitimate. The forged documents are then used to apply for passports, which are often acquired through corruption or bribery. These fake passports are being used not only by ordinary infiltrators but potentially by individuals linked to terrorist organizations. Border security forces have heightened surveillance and implemented stricter checks to counteract the growing threat of document fraud and illegal border crossings. However, experts warn that greater cybersecurity measures and enhanced document verification processes are essential to address this rising challenge.
