Tejashwi Yadav slams Nitish Government, calls it ‘tired and ineffective’

Speculations are rife in Bihar's political circles about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s potential return to the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan). Amid these discussions, RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has offered a sharp critique of the state government’s functioning, fueling debates on the political future of the state.

Addressing journalists at Rajopatti during a Karyakarta Darshan Saha Samvad program in Sitamarhi, Tejashwi accused the Nitish Kumar government of being “tired” and controlled by “retired officers.” He highlighted the recurring paper leaks in competitive exams, including the recent BPSC controversy, and held the state government accountable for the crisis.

"Paper leaks have become a norm in Bihar since we left the government. From matriculation to BPSC, exams are being sabotaged. When the education department was under my watch, such issues did not arise," said Yadav. He questioned the government’s inaction, asking, “What steps have been taken against the culprits? The people of Bihar deserve answers.”

Tejashwi also criticized the administration’s handling of the ongoing protests by BPSC aspirants. “Students had been protesting peacefully in Patna's Gardanibagh for 15 days. Yet, BJP’s B-team leaders misguided them into entering the restricted Gandhi Maidan area, leading to a brutal lathi charge.” He condemned the use of water cannons and police cases against the protesters, emphasizing that the students’ futures were being jeopardized.

Taking a direct jab at Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi alleged that the Chief Minister had distanced himself from accountability. “He doesn’t respond—neither in the House nor outside. This government no longer represents the people. The public will respond decisively in the upcoming elections,” he asserted.

Tejashwi advised students to remain united and avoid divisions along caste lines, urging them to focus on their cause to achieve success. On the upcoming 2025 elections, he expressed confidence in the people's verdict against what he described as a mismanaged and detached government. Nitish Kumar’s visit to Delhi has further fueled speculations of his political realignment. However, no official statement has been made regarding the Chief Minister’s stance on returning to the Grand Alliance, leaving Bihar’s political scene abuzz with uncertainty.
